Sungsan Art Hall

Mood: Not Bad

Music: Ballad Pour Adeline (Richard Clayderman)

Continuing from before, after being welcomed by hugs and excited smiles by the crew/team at the hotel lobby. Everyone has to rush and get ready for the next agenda which is to watch other teams perform at the art hall.

Overall time given : 2 hours

Overall food time : 1 hour

Overall travelling time to venue : 45 minutes

Overall time for self : 15 minutes

Thank god I’m a fast paced person. Bunked in with the sister for a while before deciding to get my own room. Her room was just too messy for my comfort.

Picture of my room at Savoy Hotel, Masan. I love it! It’s so Zen!

Anyway, we went for dinner at the Tesco/Lotte Mart nearby. Had a bowl of assorted kimchi with rice. The bean sprout kimchi was my favourite but the kangkung was utterly YUCK!

DSC00219Lotteria, it’s their McD’s there. The Porky Burger was awesome! The fries were a little dry but overall not bad. A meal cost around KRW 12 000.

Things in Busan is really expensive! It’s actually 20%-30% more expensive than in Seoul. I mean the cab rides start at KRW 2200* while in Seoul it may start from KRW 1800 – 2000* depending on the area. Hmmm… I feel kindda ripped off. Even the GS 25 mart (the local version of 7 eleven) has prices of the same food jacked up!

*KRW 1000 = RM 3

Proceeded to the Sungsan Art Hall for the rest of the night..

Welcome to Busan.. not!

Mood: Okay

Music: Have A Nice Day (Bon Jovi)

So, Day 2 in Korea. The plan is to make it to Busan to meet my sister. Well, thanks to some very lack of information by the organizers I ended up taking one HELL of a BIG ROUND before reaching my sister’s place.

SDC10055

By calculation, I should be in time to watch their performance and probably hang with them before lunch. Trust me, the KTX (korean bullet train) are very very much on time. If the ticket says 11.59 the train will be there at 11.59. Unlike Malaysia, our beloved KTM will most probably be 1 hour late!

The waiting area in Busan Train Station

Anyway, me.. Gung-ho from Seoul Station took the 11.00 am train down to Busan and yeah.. I arrived on time. But guess what? To my horror, I found out that the venue is another 2 hours away from Busan Station!! It is in Masan which is in Changwon which is very very far from Busan!

SDC10056

The woman at the Tourist Info Counter was trying to help me locate the hotel that my sister was in. Guess what? It wasn’t even listed!

Okay, I almost died on the spot. See, I have to carry luggages and to get there it would involve taking the Busan Subway switching to the normal trains, then a bus and then taxi!

That is one hell of a journey! Trust me, I was semi annoyed and cranky! If it’s sans luggage maybe it’ll be better. The trip was rough but the view along the way.. priceless.

Arrived at the hotel around 5 pm? Just in time to see the crew get back from the venue =(

To be continued :P

Gone and back again!

Mood: Tired

Music: Decode (Paramore)

Yeahh! I’m back from the land of the kimchi makers. Yup, I’m blessed to be able to visit South Korea once again. Twice in a year is definitely a luxury for me. Thanks to the parents.

This round I was sent partially to “babysit” my sister for her World Choir Games in Changwon (definitely NOT very close to Busan as they claim it to be but i’ll just call it Busan as it is easier). Anyway, Congrats to them for earning a silver medal! Good Job! Couldn’t be prouder!

SDC10028a These are the pre-departure pictures. I left a day later so I sent them off at KLIA!

So, I departed the next day. It was a 9.00 pm flight and I had to transit in Kota Kinabalu for an hour. I was dead sleepy and tired. So, I didn’t really take much pictures of the journey there. Arrived at 7 am Korean time, they are an hour ahead of us.

My first day at Seoul; Incheon International Airport. The view of the drop on-drop off zone. They are all super organized. Why can’t Malaysia be like that too *sighs*

Rested in Seoul for a day and then started my “adventure” to meet up with my sister in Busan/Changwon. That will definitely be in another post.

Annyeong Hi-ga-se-yo! (bye in korean)
